Okay so the lions had a bad first half against the Green Bay Packers, that's no stranger in Detroit. Coming out of the locker room the Lions actually looked like they could move the ball better than U of M.
By the fourth quarter Jon Kitna finally looked like he played 12 years in the NFL. He looked good and the Lions actually were fun to watch.
Then either the Packers woke up or Kitna decided that winning this game really wasn't in his schedule for his week. He looked like he was in a staring contest with his receivers. All the Lions needed to do was work the ball down field and get a touchdown or even a field goal with little time left. Instead Kitna throws up a cheezhead prayer right in the arms of ex-Heisman Trophy Wolverine Charles Woodson.
Okay thats fine were down by 9 with 3:31 to go we can still do this,... not. Kitna goes back out and it seemed like he told Charles Woodson that he was throwing his way again so take this one back for a touchdown. Ridiculous. Then if matters couldn't get much worse, why not do it again Jonny.
Theres no one else that you can put this loss on. You can say that the defense didn't come up in the first half, but we had the chance to win, it was in our hands. Kitna stared down every receiver and looked like he was on a date star gazed in his dates eyes. I think I could have jumped those routes.
Now Jonny, don't take this personally your still our quarterback and we don't have anyone else to replace you, but c'mon. You cant throw three picks within the last five minutes of the game, all leading to touchdowns, and expect to not receive criticism. However, I still believe you can be a good quarterback, just don't let this one happen again.
The Lions need to show everyone next week, against San Francisco, that they still can play this game and turn these games around. They need to have a short memory about this and get back on their feet. Look at the Giants last year, they start off 0-2 in pathetic form and go on and win the Superbowl. Now I'm not saying expect to see the Lions in Tampa Bay in February, but maybe we can win 7 or 8 and make a run, I believe we have the team deep down.
If not, put on a show and go 0-16 and pray that Millen will have the brains to draft Tim Tebow or Matt Stafford, but knowing Millen he'll go with Michael Crabtree and have the best receiving crew in the world, just no one to throw them the ball.
