Last week's season opener against the Atlanta Falcons is exactly why I don't watch preseason games or blog about them. It's all an illusion. I was hoping that being 4-0 wasn't too good to be true. But - true to Lions fashion, they lost game 1 on every level. Truly a patethic display.

I watched the first 3 minutes and knew that it was all over. Sometimes you can just feel a butt-whooping coming on, and the Lions got theirs on a plate.

On a disappointment level, the Lions always seem to deliver. Whenever I need a disappointment - I know I can count on them. Even if everything is going well, you know at some point they're going to lay an egg. they lose the games they're favored to win and win the games they should lose. However, last week's game was just awful. If anything, they could have at least showed up and made an effort. I've seen the local pee-wee league execute better plays.

Seriously. This was perhaps THE most brutal defeat I've ever witnessed. As a fan, the last four minutes of the Green Bay Lions game was like a kick in the gut, punch in the face and body slam all in one. As always, they come close enough to give you hope that they'll pull a win out of their a$$. Then, Kitna throws an interception. And another. And somehow - Green Bay scores over 20 points in 4 minutes. What the....?

Does Marinelli get in their face? Does he even look upset? NO. I think that's what makes me even more upset. Being awful doesn't matter because "he believes in what he's doing." This team has character. Well, character doesn't win games (as we've all seen). So, Marinelli basically believes that it's okay to suck. He takes the responsibility of losing "on his shoulders." So what? What's he going to do about it? Nothing. And to Ford and Millen, that's okay. It's okay to be losers.

FINALLY!

Today is the day I thought would never come. Ford FINALLY fired Millen. This day was 5-6 years in the making. I can't believe it took this long, but I'm so happy it finally happened that I'm completely beside myself. This is the best thing the Lions organization has done to help their team in years. Firing Millen IS moving forward. It's the only way.

Last year, I had a jersey custom-made for my husband. The name on it? FIREMILLEN 00

I'll put up a picture of it soon. We thought he could wear it for at least 2 more years! He'll still probably wear it as a fond memory that dumping his sorry excuse for a GM was the best decision ever.

This is like cutting off the cancer. Now the Lions can TRULY focus on rebuilding. Kicking Millen's a$$ ends years of crappy draft picks and the acceptance of awful performance and management. If Millen was working anywhere else running ANY other organization, he would have been fired years ago. Only in Detroit could anyone who sucks so bad actually keep his job. Just ask Kwame - he knows all about pulling the wool over people's eyes. I'll bet they took lessons from each other, or at least went to the same school of management.
