Lions don't fail in disappointment...

Last week's season opener against the Atlanta Falcons is exactly why I don't watch preseason games or blog about them. It's all an illusion. I was hoping that being 4-0 wasn't too good to be true. But - true to Lions fashion, they lost game 1 on every level. Truly a patethic display.

I watched the first 3 minutes and knew that it was all over. Sometimes you can just feel a butt-whooping coming on, and the Lions got theirs on a plate.

On a disappointment level, the Lions always seem to deliver. Whenever I need a disappointment - I know I can count on them. Even if everything is going well, you know at some point they're going to lay an egg. they lose the games they're favored to win and win the games they should lose. However, last week's game was just awful. If anything, they could have at least showed up and made an effort. I've seen the local pee-wee league execute better plays.

And so begins another season of the Lions fan - off to a disappointing start after a seemingly bright preseason. Time will tell if the preseason was a fluke or if the opener was the true illusion.

But hey, at least the Lions have CHARACTER. We've all heard about how these guys live, breathe and eat football. They are quality people, full of CHARACTER. Does character alone win games? Hmm....

How about players that want to win? You can have all the character in the world, but without the desire to win, the Lions will go nowhere.
